As easy walk along level ground - either gravel, paved or tarmac. Approx 70 metres of ascent.

Looking for a change of scene after the Pride Parade and before evening partying?  Or live in Manchester and looking for a short afternoon walk that explores some of Manchester's green byways? If either applies, this could be the walk for you!  It's a 5 mile / 8 kilometre linear walk, returning by tram.

Join us after the Pride Parade as we head east along the Ashton Canal to SportCity, where we'll see the City of Manchester Stadium (also known as the Etihad Stadium) and other sporting facilities.  We'll then stroll through Philips Park, one of the world's oldest municipal parks.  After leaving the park, we follow a short length of disused railway line, crossing a red-brick viaduct, and dropping down into the valley of the River Medlock through Clayton Vale, a surprising green oasis overlooked by residential tower blocks.

A short distance through a residential area brings us to a tram stop, from where we'll return to central Manchester (single fare ticket is £2.80).  After the walk ends (around 17:00), you might want to head back to the Village, or some of us may be heading for a drink and and a bite to eat in the Northern Quarter.

OTHER PRIDE WEEKEND ACTIVITIES:
Thursday (Pre-Pride):

Sign up and get ready to toss your handbag, chuck your sausage in the hoop or maybe don your finest heels (or whatever is left in the box of goodies) and do us proud on the high heeled egg and spoon race! We need a team of 4-6 and plenty of people just to cheer us on and line the street with Red OutdoorLads t shirts!

Saturday:
Did you know we are participating in the Pride Parade on the Saturday? We will have a large float this year! Sign up here!

Sunday:
We will also be having a social event on the Sunday evening - come along and catch up with old friends and make a few new ones along the way :)
