North Wales Cycling Weekend – Sunday 30km Mountain Bike Ride
7 people attending
3 places left
A 30km (18 miles) mountain bike ride around Afon Mawddach estuary including tea and cakes (maybe candy floss) by the beach and a cheeky half on the way home.
The route includes cycling the length of the Mawddach Trail (former railway line) from Dolgellau, across the 699m long Grade II listed wooden Barmouth Bridge and some beautiful single track along the estuary.
This ride is part of a weekend of road and mountain biking taking part in and around Dolgellau. Will, the organiser will be staying at Torrent Walk campsite, which is bookable online and includes guest house accommodation, a bunk house, pitches for touring caravans and campervans as well as plenty of flat ground for tents.
Saturday - 90km Road Ride
Saturday - 31km Mountain Bike Ride - Coed y Brenin
Sunday - 60km Road Ride
Sunday - 30km Mountain Bike Ride - Cross country
Pace and Terrain
A fairly chilled Sunday mountain bike ride, mostly off road with a couple short sections of road. There is nothing too technical (mostly green and blue), however there is a horrible road climb out of Barmouth which can’t be avoided.
You do need reasonable personal fitness for this event. Broadly, anyone who has recently cycled around 20-25km and who has tackled some steep hills without too much difficulty will be able to complete this ride.
