For this event in particular, it is important that you read the full event information regarding filming, products, and sizing before signing up.
This is one of the events organised as part of Big Spring Camp 2022.
We're back with The North Face again! You may remember seeing events back in March when we did some filming with The North Face in the Ogwen Valley, and we were interviewed in a climbing centre in Manchester. This is excellent exposure for OutdoorLads, so we hope as many of you can get involved as possible!
This time, The North Face are joining us at BIG Spring Camp for a #PrideHike to celebrate Pride Month! They're providing two expert Mountain Leaders to guide us up Glyder Fach (994m) and Glyder Fawr (1001m). Yes, we're back in the Ogwen Valley - it's just so nice.
This will be a fairly challenging walk with lots of ascent, and depending on the route chosen, may involve some Grade 1 scrambling. If we get enough people on this event, the group will be split, and one group may well take a different route to the other.
Whereas the previous two days with The North Face were all about the filming, this event is all about the walk. It will be filmed by a camera crew, but that will all be secondary to the walk. You'll be required to sign a document permitting The North Face to use the footage from the day. If you're not prepared to sign such a document, please do not sign up for this event.
You do not need to have joined us on any previous The North Face activities, and you're not required to do any 'acting.' It is possible but fairly unlikely that they may want to ask you questions.
You will be provided with some The North Face products to wear, some of which you will not be required to hand back. You may be provided with boots / shoes, but as these will be 'on test,' you won't get to keep them :(
To help them get the right quantities of products, once you have signed up please click here to confirm your sizes by midday 6th May. If you sign up after this date, please email dan.byrnes@outdoorlads.com to confirm sizes. (shoe size, jacket/top size, and trousers size).

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.

What to bring
Please make sure you have the following for the walk:
Rucksack: Or any other bag...
Footwear: Hiking boots are a must for this walk (these may be provided by The North Face). Make sure you also have long socks to avoid blisters.
Waterproof jacket and trousers: Breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry.
Medicines: If you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Layered clothing: Lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: Ideally not jeans which become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry.
Hat and Gloves: Having a spare pair of gloves in case of rain is also a good idea.
Sunglasses and suncream: Fingers crossed...
Other personal equipment you may use (walking poles, whistle, jelly babies...)
Maps can be provided, but feel free to bring your own. If you'd fancy doing some navigation then a compass may also be useful. You may also want to have a spare change of clothes on return to the car park. The Mountain Leaders supplied by The North Face will have group safety equipment, such as First Aid packs. Please let them know on arrival of any medical issues.
You may be advised not to walk if you have equipment that would compromise the safety of yourself or the group (i.e. inappropriate footware/waterproofs). Please ask if you have any questions or need advise on equipment.
Food & drink
Lunch: Bring a packed lunch to eat on the hill. I'd advise having high energy goodness aswell such as biscuits, energy bars, gels, bananas, chocolate or dried fruit.
Water: Bring at least a litre of water. A flask may also be a great idea too if you have one. It may get chilly on the tops, even in June!
