The walk is gently undulating on footpaths through fields and quiet country lanes. There are no major hills.

Join the Outdoorlads for an easy paced 9 mile Sunday stroll based around an innovative rewilding project in the heart of rural West Sussex. The farming estate, which has taken a different path to modern intensive or traditional agriculture, covers an area of 3,500 acres, and five tree viewing-platforms, close to public footpaths, offering wonderful panoramas of the surrounding countryside.

Since 2001, the land - once intensively farmed - has been devoted to a pioneering rewilding project. Using grazing animals as the drivers of habitat creation, and with the restoration of dynamic, natural water courses, the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife. Extremely rare species like turtle doves, nightingales, peregrine falcons and purple emperor butterflies are now breeding here; and populations of more common species are rocketing.

More information on the Knepp Estate is found at https://knepp.co.uk/.

Subject to pace and how the time goes, we will stop at one or two country pubs (for drinks only) along the way.
