The Waterways of Surrey from Woking to Staines
15 people attending
5 places left
A 13.4-mile (21.5 km) walk from Woking to Staines following no fewer than three waterway towpaths along the Basingstoke canal, the Wey Navigation and the Thames, with a flat cross-country section of a couple of miles also in the mix. The walk is a level one with no hills.
You should bring water and a packed lunch. The Basingstoke canal towpath is surfaced throughout, The Wey navigation is good compacted earth with stones and the Thames both earth and tarmac in places. The fields should be good going unless there has been much rain before the walk, so lighter walking boots should be OK. The pace should be fairly fast, aided by the good conditions underfoot and total lack of obstacles such as gates and stiles.
