The Walk

Join Stephen Turner and Dan Barcroft on a 10 mile walk in and around the South Cumbrian village of Witherslack.
Highlights of the walk be

  • Strolling round the village of Millside
  • Up through the woods near Halecat House and passed Witherslack Hall
  • Then a steep 800 foot ascent onto Whitbarrow scar- a limestone escarpment
  • Walking to the Lord’s Seat  across the limestone payment with views across South to the Cumbrian and Morecambe Bay
  • Then wander through woodlands then with another lesser ascent on to the edge of Whitbarrow scar with spectacular views
  • And a steep descent back to the car

There is no pub in the village , but we can visit the Gilpin Bridge en route back towards the Motorway
