10 miles / 6 Hours - we will have plenty of time, it’s an easy walk with a few slight inclines.

Starting at Meynell Langley Gardens Tearooms, we will walk through rolling Derbyshire countryside with views of Kedleston Hall and its surroundings.

This modrate walk of roughly ten miles will take us through the villages of Weston Underwood and Windley before reaching Quarndon for a restorative pint. We will enjoy views of Kedleston Hall, the vast Georgian Country Seat of the Curzon family.

Starting and finishing at the tea rooms - hopefully to have some tea and cake on our return - we make our way down a short stretch of road to a stile which takes us across sheep infested fields with amazing view north across towards Duffield as we make our way to Weston Underwood.

Here we cross the Kedleston from Derby to Hulland Ward and walk through fields and woods dotted with pheasant eager to escape the guns of the appointed few. This neatly brings us to Cockshut Lane. A short amble along this thoroughfare takes through some fields to the edge of Quarndon - one of the more expensive places locally where you will find plenty of Grand Design type monstrousities. Down the hill past the church where my parents were married we find a fine hostelry called the Joiners Arms. We will take a well earned rest here. Onwards from there we walk over the hill towards Kedleston Hall nestled in the beautifully Landscaped Countryside ahead.

Please consider joining fellow ODL members at the East Midlands Nottingham Christmas Social event in the evening on the same day.
