Sunday Straddling Sussex and Kent to Bodiam Castle

Bodiam Castle is one of the National Trust's most popular locations and deservedly so. It is extremely impressive, particularly as it is surrounded by a moat full of large fish. It was built in 1385 by a former knight of Edward III, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. It is a grade 1 listed building.
I am lucky enough to live quite close to this magnificent place and we at Outdoor Lads are also fortunate that there is a station fairly close by. Since I became a leader I have led several expeditions to the castle, each time following a different route to get there.
Most of the routes normally head South and then East but this time we will take the North East course, initially following the river before journeying through typical undulating High Weald country to get to the castle itself.
We will have time to explore the castle and, on payment of about £10 each, to enter the building and look around. I want to take a photo of Lads with flag leaning over the parapet. Dogs aren't allowed inside so I will wait below to get this shot. I will happily look after your dog as well while you go in and explore.
Depending on how long we spend at the castle, we may have time to visit the Castle Inn pub at Bodiam but hopefully we will have the chance to visit the Salehurst Halt just outside Robertsbridge on the way back.
What to bring
Please expect it to be muddy in places and possibly wet so good walking boots and waterproofs are advised.
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch and water to sustain you. There are shops in Robertsbridge but none en route. The only shop in Bodiam is the National Trust gift shoppe. Please bring enough money to get yourself into the castle (£10) and for pub visits (unlimited?!).
