Join Will for cocktail hour this Friday at 19:30.

 As it is cocktail hour, there is a dress code;

  • wear a collar, with a shirt!
  • put on some trousers, no PJ bottoms
  • no trainers and definitely no Crocs (have some dignity please!)

Dig out your spirits from the back of the cupboard and we will have some fun trying to put together some classics or if all else fails we will make up our own.  I'm no expert, but I certainly like drinking them.

Some cocktail ideas;

Espresso Martini - caffeine, alcohol and it tastes nice:

  • 1 measure of cold expresso - if you haven't an expresso machine, make a strong cafetiere
  • 1 measure of vodka
  • 1 measure of Kahlua or Tia Maria (if desperate)

Tequila Sunrise - goes down very well - never Skype drunk!:

  • 3 measure orange juice
  • 1.5 measure tequila
  • 0.5 measure grenadine

Long Island Ice Tea - absolutely everything in your cupboard goes into this:

  • 1 measure of vodka
  • 0.5 measures of gin, triple sec, white rum, tequila
  • 0.25 measure of lime/lemon
  • dash of coke.

Top Banana - have 2 and it's one of your five a day:

  • 1 shot vodka
  • 1 shot peach schnapps
  • 2 shots milk
  • 1/2 banana

Honey Bee - sweet and tasty

  • 1 shot honey
  • 1 shot lemon juice
  • 2 shots rum
  • splash of orange juice

Knickerbocker - Will's new favourite

  • 50ml rum
  • 12.5ml Chambord
  • Juice of half lime
  • 5ml Cointreau or triple sec
  • 5ml sugar syrup

A great website is https://www.cocktailbuilder.com/ - enter the ingredients you have and it lets you know what you could make.

Simple plan; have your ingredients, shaker (if you have one) and ice ready and we will spend an hour (or 3 if last Friday is anything to go by) chatting and mixing and see what we come up with.  I can't make a cocktail out of nothing, so have some spirits at hand and some useful mixers (such as orange juice and coke).  If feeling really fancy the following garnishes are useful; green olives, an orange, lemon and cherries.

We will host this on Zoom - I will send a link on the day, but please have it installed on your device ready.
