Join me as I walk sections of Fife's coastal path. Normally walked south-to-north, we'll go the other way for a change. I have never been in the area (nor pre-walked the path) so we'll get to discover it together. It's summer, so let's hope for warmth and sun, make the most of the longer days and do feel free to pack swimwear!

You can see the route here: link

Here's some information on the walk I found while researching: this is described as the remotest part of Fife Coastal Path. The route can be rough going at times on rocky shore. There is a tidal section that we will need to cross at low tide (which is at about 2pm).  We will hike past sandy beaches, Constantine's Cave (that legend says has seen the murder of a King), a lighthouse housed in a squat building (can’t wait to see this one!) at the most easterly corner of Fife, harbors, rock formations and more.

As standard, I'll send an email before the event with weather updates and lunch options, depending how many we are, although for now please allow for a packed lunch.

Transport:

On public transport, it is possible to reach Kingsbarns by bus from Dundee (frequent services from Dundee to St Andrews, and bus 95 from here). From Glasgow/Edinburgh one could take the train to Dundee as well to link to the buses from there.

If you are planning to walk the previous section on Saturday, I would suggest looking into accommodation locally and making a weekend out of it.

On the way back, Stagecoach bus 95 links Crail to Kingsbarns (about £2.50 and at 19 or 23min past the hour) if needed to go back to parked cars.

Note that all the above timings and options are from quick searches, please check your own travel plans, including parking options if you plan to drive, and don't rely on these timings! If you spot something wrong, let me know so I can correct it here.

Accommodation

If you are joining on the Monday walk too and wish to stay in the area, there are plenty of accommodation options. Crail has guest houses and hotels, there is a hostel in Anstruther and St. Andrews is within easy reach by bus, with many other options. I will personally be staying in the area, feel free to message me if you plan to do the same.
