Join Phil on this 9 mile walk starting in the village of Bolton by Bowland, near Clitheroe. We leave Bolton by Bowland following Skirden Beck towards the village of Sawley.

Sawley is the home of the remains of the Cistercian Sawley Abbey founded in 1147 and was used until its dissolution in 1536 during the reign of King Henry VIII.

From Sawley we will make our way along the Ribble Way and in some places on the banks of the River Ribble, to the village of Gisburn. From Gisburn we pass the edge of Ribblesdale Park and Gisburne Park before crossing Gisburn Bridge towards Bolton Park, previously the home of Sir Ralph Pudsey. We then pass King Henry's well before finishing the walk where we started in Bolton by Bowland.

After the walk anyone wanting a post walk drink, we will be heading to the Coach & Horses, in the centre of the village.
