A gentle leisure cycle
Join us for a relaxed and social Sunday morning ride exploring the quieter waterways, parks, and streets of Salford and north Manchester. This scenic 12-mile loop takes in the Irwell Sculpture Trail, Peel Park, Salford Quays and the River Irwell, with an optional coffee stop about halfway round.
🚲 Ride Overview:
- Distance: Approx. 12 miles
- Pace: Gentle, around 8–10 mph
- Elevation: 368 ft total (mostly flat with a few gentle inclines)
- Surface: ~82% paved, ~18% gravel or unpaved paths
- Estimated ride time: ~90 minutes of cycling plus a 30-minute café stop
Ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a gentle social ride with great views and a mix of urban and green surroundings.
🔧 Essentials to Bring:
- A roadworthy bike (hybrid, gravel, or mountain bikes ideal)
- Helmet - required for all OutdoorLads cycling events
- Spare inner tube or puncture kit
- Water and any snacks you need
- Card/cash for the café stop
- Weather-appropriate clothing

- You MUST complete the Cycling Participation Statement in addition to booking your event space before attending a cycling event.

We’ll stop for around 30 minutes at Salford Museum & Art Gallery, which has an on-site café with drinks and light refreshments. Bring a card or cash if you fancy a drink or snack.
