Valley walking on on even stoney paths

Join National Trust Riverlands Ranger Joe, on a short guided walk to learn about river restoration taking place in the Borrowdale valley. All over the Lake District (and indeed all over the UK) rivers are being returned to their natural state - wiggly, slower moving and with loads of diverse habitats. Some modifications are very small - a boulder placed in the river or a bank lowered just a few centimetres. Others are major - with the course of an entire system being taken out of a man-man channel and returned to its original path. Joe will show us a couple of projects and talk about a whole range of other things the Riverland's Team is doing.

The walk will only be a couple of miles and will finish at lunch time for those that want to get away. We can extend the walk after we say good bye to Joe for those that want to make a fuller day of it.

A perfect way to end the weekend exploring the beauty of Borrowdale.
