Day 2 will be relatively long (around 30km) and wild camping will necessitate carrying of equipment during the event.

This is the event page for the Ridgeway (second half) weekend event (including wild camping). The event page for the Ridgeway (first half) weekend event is also available to allow you to complete the entire Ridgeway over two weekends, subject to availability. If you don’t want to participate in this event but would like to join on any of the the linear day walks that make up this second event, separate links for the day walks will be available in due course. Those signing up to this 2.5 day event do NOT need to sign up to the separate day walk links as well.

The Route: Starting at Goring & Streatley railway station we will make our way East following one of the most ancient routes across the south of England and ending the weekend at Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring railway station.

We will cover about 70km in total - between 15km and 30km per day - starting early afternoon on the Friday. We will pass a number of historical sites and experience classic Chilterns landscapes including extensive woodland around Wendover and the dramatic chalk slopes at Ivinghoe.

More information about the Ridgeway can be found on the National Trails website: https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/en_GB/trails/the-ridgeway/

Accommodation: We will be wild camping in appropriate locations along the Ridgeway. Therefore you need suitable equipment for wild camping at this time of the year. Please contact one of the leaders if you have not wild camped before and would like to take part - we can provide thoughts based on our wild camping experiences.

Please note the following from the National Trails website: "The Ridgeway is privately owned and the Public Right of Way along it is for passage only, not for stopping and camping. However, in practice, most landowners do not object if a tent is pitched on the Trail for a night and if it disappears the next morning – as long as no litter is left, no damage done, nor camp fires lit. Please do not camp in adjoining fields, woods or gallops without prior permission from the landowner."

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement

You MUST complete a Participation Statementin addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
