This event has been postponed due to the new 'rule of 6'. When we have a new date confirmed with the campsite we will modify the event to reflect this.

For those foolhardy enough to go camping in October, join OutdoorLads for a weekend in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We will be camping at the foot of Great Whernside.  Our location provides stunning views across the valley and opportunity for varied activities, including walking, mountain biking and road cycling. The main event on the Saturday will be a hike up Great Whernside, which peaks at about 700m, and provides wonderful views across the landscapeThere will also be an easier low-level walk (subject to leader availability).

If interested in mountain biking or road cycling, please get in touch with the leader who will attempt to arrange a leader and separate event page.  On the Sunday there will most likely be a shorter walk on offer.

Our campsite is close to Kettlewell Village which has a range of facilities including three great pubs and an award-winning tearoom. There's even a traditional village store and an outdoor shop in case you forget that essential item. The campsite itself will be for the exclusive use of OutdoorLads, and has its own dedicated facilities, including free high quality hot showers, picnic benches and fire pit. The campsite allows BBQ'S but campfires that are ground based are not permitted. Fires raised off the floor and with protection for the grass underneath are permitted. There are a limited number of electric-hookups available which will be allocated on a first-come first served basis, if you want one of these then message the leader following event registration.

This is a compact site and we would encourage you to bring a smaller rather than a big party tent! You will not be able to park your car immediately next to your tent, but there should be room on site if people try to car share as far as possible.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead at all times on the site and cleaned up after.

Caravans, Campervans, Motorhomes: This site is not suitable for these vehicles. Very small campervans that no larger than a car, are allowed.

COVID-19  – IMPORTANT, Please read the following before you sign up to this event:

  • Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who lives or is in a support bubble with someone showing symptoms, is asked not to attend. This is in line with the government’s coronavirus advice.
  • All are required to practice social distancing – staying 2m (not 1m) apart at all times, including the lunch stop.
  • Unfortunately, there won’t be any planned pub / café stops en route or at the end, and please don’t share food, sweets or snacks with others – we’re sorry!
  • Please bring your own hand sanitising gel for your own use throughout the day. Use of face coverings is at your own choice, but please bring one with you just in case it's needed.
  • On walks, one person to hold open gates and allow everyone to walk through – so minimising surfaces that multiple people touch.
  • Be aware that opportunities for toilet stops may be minimal if facilities are closed.
  • Please, please cancel at your earliest opportunity if you are unable to attend or are unwell, so that we can allow others to take up these valuable event spaces.
  • Much as it's difficult - no handshakes or hugs!
