A unusual canoe trip, gliding across the UNESCO Pontcysllte Aqueduct, 38.4m (126ft) high over the river dee, and 306.9m (10007ft) from end to end.
Once over this this famous piece of engineering we head along a quiet backwater with views up to Castle Dinas Bran and Llangollen. The Bryn Howel hotel is the point to turn around, not forgetting to grab an Ice Cream at Trevor Basin before we cross back over the aqueduct to the finish the canoe trip.
The qualified instructor will teach us the basics to paddle the canoe in a straight line, how to turn and make sure we're comfortable before we head towards the aqueduct!
The aqueduct was designed by civil engineers Thomas Telford and William Jessop. The aqueduct was one of the first major feats of civil engineering undertaken by Telford, who was becoming one of Britain's leading industrial civil engineers. The Pontcysyllte aqueduct officially opened to traffic on 26 November 1805.
