Paper Mill Lock - Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation
25 people attending
10 places left
At just over 11 miles this day walk will take in some adorable countryside in Essex.
Please only book on if you know you can make it. Members are missing out on places due to people booking on then booking off a few days before.
We'll wander through farmland to Paper Mill Lock, which we will see twice during the walk because it is the centre of a 'figure of 8' formed by this walk.
We'll then meander along the banks of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation on the way to Ulting. We'll turn north to Nounsley, through more pretty countryside before following the River Ter briefly, returning across more farmland to Paper Mill Lock for the second time. The final leg will follow a different section of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation in the opposite direction back towards the finish point.
**Transport - Please note**
For those of your using public transport, this walk route uses buses rather than the railway network. It starts and ends in Boreham. Boreham is reached by the number 71 bus leaving Chelmsford at 09:23 and arriving in Boreham at 09:48. Chelmsford is served by Greater Anglia trains on the London Liverpool Street to Norwich line.
For drivers, these is no specific parking area but there are nearby roads you can park on. Advice would be to see if you can lift share so please use the comments
Is it dog friendly?
Dogs are very welcome but please note and abide by the Countryside Code (https://tinyurl.com/rlqvp3h). Please also remember not everyone loves your dog as much as you do so please be mindful of other members.
