Offas Dyke Day Walk Part 9 - The Castles and Abbeys of Llangollen
8 people attending
22 places left
We'll set off from the Heritage Railway Station in Llangollen and climb out of the town towards Castell Dinas Bran, which was briefly the home of medieval Welsh Princes. The castle sits atop a steep hill but the climb is worth it for the view! We'll then descend the other side of the hill and pick up the Offa's Dyke Trail as it runs underneath some soaring cliffs, before we cut across farmland to pick up a path which takes us to the ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey, once home to Cistercian Monks. From there, we'll follow the Llangollen Canal back into the centre of town and most probably a pub/tea room.
What to bring
If this is your first day walk and you're not sure what to wear or bring with you, please see the 'My First Day Walk' section of the 'Events' menu above.
Food & drink
You'll need to bring a packed lunch with you, along with sufficient water to keep you hydrated during the walk (recommended 1-2 litres). There'll be an optional pub/tea room stop at the end of the walk.
