Mae'n bennaf ar lonydd gwledig tawel iawn i ddechrau. Mae'r golygfeydd trwodd yn rhagorol efo coedwig, clogwyni, mynyddoedd a rhostiroedd. Ar ôl i ni adael Llangollen byddwn wedyn yn seiclo yn ôl ar hyd Bwlch yr Oernant, mae'r rhan yma yn anodd ac mae traffig ar y ffordd hon, mae 'na gaffi arall yn y top dylai unrhyw un eisiau rhoi'r gorau a chael ychydig o luniaeth eraill.
Starting from our campsite in Llandegla village, we'll travel by car a few minutes drive to the starting point. We need to be there early in order to achieve good parking. From the start we ride down country lanes and some nice different terraines to Llandegla Forest, where we will do a nice section of the downhill 'blue' trail. We will then carry on our journey back to the start point over more moorland and some excellent downhill descents. We will have the opportunity to stop for something to eat or drink at the end. The ride is mainly on bridleways with some road cycling at the start and at the end and fortunately the roads are very quiet of traffic. The views throughout are outstanding with forests, cliffs, mountains and moorlands. After we leave Llangollen we will then traverse the famous horse shoe pass, ((in Welsh Bwlch yr Oernant,) "Pass of the Cold Stream")).
This Saturday event is one of two over the Bank holiday weekend. A bunch of us are camping for the weekend from Friday evening until Monday morning. Please log in to find where we're staying.
The Sunday event is a great day on the Llandegla Forest MTB Trails, one of the best trail centres in Wales. Here's the link: https://www.outdoorlads.com/events/llandegla-trail-centre-180506
What to bring
Bike: a mountain bike or hybrid (no road bikes)
Helmet: OutdoorLads requires you to wear one
Clothing: lightweight and layered, shorts are great even in rain as they allow free movement of your legs. Avoid jeans, which are uncomfortable when wet, and baggy tracksuit bottoms, which can snag in the chain. Colourful and/or reflective clothing will make you more visible to other road users
Footwear: grippy soles if your bike has standard pedals
Gloves: cycle gloves help avoid blisters, and are good in the cold
Punctures: spare inner tube, bike tyre pump and tyre levers
Tools: any special tools that your bike needs
Small snacks: such as chocolate or energy bars
Plenty of water: in bottle/s on your bike or in a daysack/bladder
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Eye protection: avoid getting grit or insects in your eyes; sunglasses are OK if they are not made of glass and not too shaded
Sun cream: take care, even on overcast days
Bike lights: be seen and safe
Storage: small day-sack or a bag on your bike
Mobile Phone: keep it in a waterproof bag for use in emergencies
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink, there is a selection of cafes and shops at the end of the ride for those wishing to stop for a beer or coffee or buy some fudge for the mother-in-law
