7 miles approx - steep ascent to summit,

At 872m Moel Siabod just loses out on a place amongst the Welsh 3000's. However, its prominent position, standing away from the other main Snowdonia ranges, nevertheless gives it the feel of a "proper mountain". If you were going to draw a mountian you may well draw Moel Siabod!

This walk will start at the Bryn Glo car park in Capel Curig. From here the walk will take us through woodland before continuing on forest tracks and passing old abandoned quarry buildings and mining cottages. Passing the tarn of Llyn y Foel we’ll start making our ascent to the summit.

This is a fairly easy but strenuous walk to the summit of the mountain with some minor scrambling over rocks (nothing to technical)

On a clear day, the summit offers a fine panorama, revealing part or all of the highest three mountain ranges in Wales, the Snowdon range, the Glyderau and some of the Carneddau. A short walk from the summit cairn reveals Llyn y Foel way below to the right.

From the sumit (where if the weather is kind the views are truly superb) we will descend the gentle slope through forest & woodland back to our start point, before heading to a pub of cafe for well earned refreshments.

I’m leading another walk on Saturday 1st of June in the area

If you fancy doing both walks and wish to stay in the area, I’ll be staying at the Heights Bunkhouse near Llanberis. Theirs a number of B&Bs & YHA Hostels in the area.

Is this your first walk event with Outdoorlads? Great news! Please find more information on this here. http://outdoorlads.com/events/my-first-day-walk
