A great short walk out to Hilbre Island on the Wirral Peninsula in between the tides.  10km in total and around 4hours with a lunch stop.

West of the Wirral Peninsula (close to the town of West Kirby) you will find three small islands: Little Eye, Little Hilbre Island and Hilbre Island. These three islands are cut off by the sea twice a day, for up to six hours, but a walk to them across the sands at low tide is a superb outing. This walk feels like a real adventure and to do it you must know the tide times and set off from the shore around 3 hours after the last high tide. Once on the islands you must start your return at least 3-4 hours before the next high tide (leave longer in either direction if it is a particularly high tide) and stick to the described route as other ways may have mud and dangerous quicksand.
