The walk will be hilly for the most part, with a total ascent of 657m

Classic rolling downland and panoramic views from the South Downs Way are guaranteed for those who join this 12 mile walk. We will ascend to the atmospheric Chanctonbury Ring, an ancient hill fort sitting atop the South Downs and offering sweeping views across the Downs. We will head along the South Downs Way for a few miles before dropping into the historic and intimate market town of Steyning, where we will pause for an hour for lunch. From there we will climb back onto the Downs and join the Monarch's Way to head to the village of Findon. We then make our way back through meadows for a couple of miles to return to the car park.

Now the health and safety stuff.
