Considerable distance (12 miles) and ascent (1012m).

A 12 mile circular mountain walk around Martindale near Ullswater taking in 7 Wainwrights: Steel Knotts (433m), High Raise (802m), The Knott (739m), Rest Dodd (697m), Angletarn Pikes (567m) and Beda Fell (509m).  This is a strenuous full day mountain walk so please be sure of your fitness and ability before signing up.

We may be lucky enough to see the Red Deer herd at Martindale during the rut, though this cannot be guaranteed. The rut is the red deer mating season, which begins in October and runs in to early November.  A raucous affair, with stags bellowing their mating calls, fighting for territory and access to the harem of females.  They are most active at dawn and dusk.
