Lyme Park Walk, an introduction to OutdoorLads

OutdoorLads has teamed up with the LGBT foundation to provide a series of social walks aimed at new members and those looking to meet likeminded people away from the typical gay scene. The walk will be a great way to meet existing members and find out more about the activities that OutdoorLads has to offer.

 For this instalment we will be visiting the Lyme Park is a country estate and deer park near Disley in Cheshire. The house and estate were given to the National Trust in 1946 and since then it has become a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. Given the time of year the event will focus on walking the nearby trails and estate rather than the house, although you will be able to see it in all its grandeur from the park. We will travel along the Gritstone trail, passing the house and visiting the estate, including Paddock Cottage, and the Timber Yard café. We will then follow the North Cheshire Way passing by The Cage, which was originally a hunting lodge and was later used as a park-keeper's cottage and as a lock-up for prisoners. If The Cage is open we will stop for a quick look around.

 The event will include:

• Walking and visiting sights in the park grounds.
• A stop at the National Trust café.
• Walking along the North Cheshire Way passing by the Cage.
• Optional visit to a local pub.

A note about the number of places on this event

This event page has been set up for people new to OutdoorLads who want the opportunity to meet existing members and try out one of our events. The number of spaces has currently been set to 10, 5 are reserved for people referred by the LGBT Foundation and 5 are for guys who show an interest in OutdoorLads at Manchester Pride.
