Ludlow and the "other Downton"

Note: The start time has been set to allow anyone wishing to catch the train from Manchester Piccadilly to make the walk.
The picturesque medieval town of Ludlow in the Welsh Marches is the start and end point of this walk. Ludlow has a wealth of medieval buildings and has around 500 listed bulidings; it is also renown for it's food and drink.
The walk straddles the Shropshire/ Herefordshire border passing through the Downton Gorge National Nature Reserve. The walk is hopefully timed to coincide with a good display of Autumn colour, however the timing for that is down to nature; and I am not a naturist.

Food & drink
You will need a packed lunch and at least 2 litres of water for this walk; and given the time of year you may also want to pack a hot drink as well.
There is nowhere to buy any food once we have left Ludlow, however there are plenty of places in Ludlow to buy any last minute items near the start point.
