Liphook to Petersfield - Hampshire(20 miles linear)-W2PS6

Join me for a strenuous linear hike from Liphook to Petersfield - it'll be a long day, finishing quite late, but we'll be rewarded with some fine views as we trace the Hampshire Hangers in this beautiful part of the country.
From Liphook we head west along the Shipwrights Way, passing by the entrance to Foley Manor, guarded by the equestrian statue of Lord Strathnairn, far from its original home in Knightsbridge. Following this we head further west across the fine heathland of Weavers Down.
As we near the A3 we begin tracing an arc which takes us over the A3, over Noar Hill nature reserve (https://www.hiwwt.org.uk/nature-reserves/noar-hill-nature-reserve ) with it's medieval chalk workings, and down into the little village of Hawkley with its beautiful church yard and ancient yews.
From Hawkley we have a steep climb up to the spectacular viewpoint of Shoulder of Mutton Hill, before wandering the final stretch back south into Petersfield.
---
Note that we will need to set a good pace (2.5 miles / hr) over a long day to finish at a decent time, so keep that in mind when signing up.

What's the W2P S6 mean in the title? It stands for Waterloo to Portsmouth Stage 6 - This year I decided to lead a series of 8 linear walks which will take us all the way from London Waterloo to Portsmouth (W2P). This is the 6th walk of the series. If you haven't done any of the previous stages - or can't do any future ones - please still free to join. Each walk on its own should still be a great day out.
Proposed remaining legs / dates (not set in stone yet but likely dates at this stage.)
- Stage 7 : Petersfield -> Rowlands Castle - 10th August (not yet posted)
- Stage 8 : Rowlands Castle -> Portsmouth Harbour - 17th August (not yet posted)

Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Rucksack: or any other bag
Footwear: hiking boots.

Food & drink
Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water / snacks. There are no shops right next to the station in Liphook, nor do we pass any during the day - so come prepared ! Time permitting we may stop for a beverage at a pub, so bring your wallet :)
