Limestone Heights: A Day of Climbing in Portland - Saturday
8 people attending
4 places left
Join us on the stunning island of Portland for some adrenaline-pumping sport climbing! This is a fantastic opportunity to get out on the famous limestone cliffs overlooking the English Channel. Whether you're a seasoned sport climber or have been leading indoors and want to venture on to some real rock, this event is perfect for you.
On this day, we will explore some of the best climbing areas that Portland has to offer. There will be a range of grades available to cater to all levels of experience, so if you haven't climbed outdoors before, just let the organiser know when you sign up so we can make sure we have a good mix of experiences.
To attend this event, you will need to have attended an indoor (or outdoor) climbing event with OutdoorLads before and be competent in tying in with a figure 8 knot and Lead-Belaying a climbing partner. If you are unsure about the difficulty of the event or whether you have the necessary skills & experience, please message the event leader with your questions.
The event is part of a larger Outdoorlads meetup, with some members taking part in a walking event. After the day's climbing, we will return to the Bunker Hostel for a well-deserved rest and enjoy a friendly and sociable evening. Make sure that if you'd like to stay in the hostel, you book the hostel event separately here.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
What to bring
Please bring your climbing gear (helmet, shoes and harness is minimum), a packed lunch, plenty of water, and weather-appropriate clothing.
