Join Will & Jon for a fortnight of cycling LEJOG, a cycle tour of the UK from Lands End to John O’Groats.  The whole route will take 14 days (plus 2 days travelling) covering 1000 miles so join for as much or as little as you can face!  The trip is organised as day events, allowing you to sign up to whatever days you fancy, booking your own transport and accommodation according to your budget.

DAY NINE - Carlisle to Symington

We cross the border today into Scotland, so keep you eyes out for Haggis running free in the hills.  I'm struggling to say many nice things about tidays route as we cycle adjacent to the A74M for most of the day.  We might be pleasantly surprised with our 113km and 730m of ascent.

No touristing today unless we fall across something, anyone fancy tying the knot in Gretna Green?

The route can be downloaded from here.

Sunday 12th July accommodation suggestions in Symington (Biggar):

  • not a lot of choice, Will and Jon are booked into the Tinto Hotel.

Keep costs down by getting twin rooms and sharing.

Getting there and back again

If you are joining us for the day, the nearest train station to the starting point is Carlisle.

If you are leaving us in Symington, the nearest train station is 14km away in Lanark.

If you have any questions regarding equipment etc email Will.Allaway@Outdoorlads.com.

A lot of useful information is included in Day 0 - Getting to Lands End.
