Not made plans for next Saturday evening (20th)? Got a tent or a bivvy-bag? Can you get to north wales by teatime? Then join us on a mini wild-camping adventure!
Sometimes we're not free all weekend but it's still possible to fit an adventure in. I will be heading by public transport to North Wales on Saturday afternoon with the aim of a mountain wildcamp. Exact details will be somewhat weather dependant but it is likely we will head to Capel Curig, near Betws y Coed. If the weather is good we can head for a summit. On Sunday, we will hike on with our gear and either head for another summit or, if lads are keen, head down to Llyn Gwynant for a splash about on the lake. We will be able to get back to the start by bus.
Pack light!
What to bring
Alpkit have written a good intro to wildcamping on their website here. But as long as you have a tent or bivvy (or tarp even), sleeping bag, a set of camping pots/mug to eat with, and your regular hiking gear, and a big enough rucksack to fit it in, you will be able to join us.
If there are any bits you don’t have but you would like to join us, get in touch, we may be able to double up or share spare kit.
Remember you’ll need personal hygiene stuff and loo roll.
And bring swimming kit!
Food & drink
Bring food (and the means to cook) enough for one evening, one breakfast, and one lunch. If you’re not sure what food is best, get in touch with the event leader.
we will find water to boil/treat along the way, but bring enough at least for the evening hike.
