After crossing the River Thames on the 19th century bridge, the walk begins with a steep but short climb to the highest point above the Goring gap where the Thames cuts through between the Chilterns and the Berkshire Downs to reveal magnificent view over the downs, Thames Valley and Chilterns. This is followed by a bracing walk across the sweeping, empty expanses of the Berkshire Downs and then a long descent down to the Thames, where the final stage is a delightful ramble along a lovely two-mile streatch of the river between Moulsford and Streatley. Although this is a long walk, much of it is across flat or gently undulating country and, except for the first one, all the climbs are gradual.

Food & drink
Bring a packed lunch and snacks to keep you going. If you can fit a warm drink/flask in your bag, that might also be a bonus with walking at this time of year.
