Steep climb at the start then pretty level walk

We will meet at the Heatherdene Car Park and set off walking across the causeway at the end of Ladybower Reservoir before heading up the hill to the viewpoint to see the whole reservoir. Ladybower Reservoir is the lowest of the 3 Derwent Valley Reservoirs, built to supply the East Midlands with water in the 1930's and 18940's.  The dams are famous having been used in the original Dambusters movie.

On this walk we will walk round Ladybower and Derwent Reservoir along Derwent Edge with its stunning and unusual rock formations. We will drop down to the water level near to the dam at the bottom of Derwent Reservoir before heading round the reservoir then up onto higher ground to come back down the side of Ladybower reservoir, rejoining the road by the causeway at the bottom of the Derwent Valley.

At the end of the walk there is the option of a drink at The Ladybower Inn.
