The Hidden Lake District Camp 2019

An oasis of rocks, grassy fields, gentle streams and views to some of the best mountains in the Lake District. That is what awaits you in the Hidden Duddon Valley, so named, by us, as it is off the beaten track and avoids the usual crowds, allowing us a fantastic base for the weekend with access to incredible walks and even some great local river swimming!
With The Old Man of Coniston, Scafell, Harter Fell and HardKnott with its great Roman Fort, are all within easy reach of the campsite; we are awash with possible walks and there are plenty of lower level walks through the valley too, so even if you don't fancy tackling a mountain, we have it all here.
Or if you fancy a day paddling and swimming in the local rivers then you can feel free to indulge as much as you like in that. Truly a perfect camping location!
Don't think about it, get on it and you will not regret it!
SATURDAY NIGHT
Last year we had a fab night at the local pub, with a BBQ and live entertainment thrown in, in our honour. More information will be released closer to the event.
But be prepared for more meat you can shake a stick at and some brilliant live singing all washed down with some tasty beverages! Well worth every penny!!
CAMPSITE FACILITIES
There are showers/wash facilities at the farm at the start of the main field. Showers are £1 for 4 minutes so please bring change with you.
The campsite allows BBQ'S but campfires that are ground based are not permitted. Fires raised off the floor and with protection for the grass underneath are permitted.
CAMPERVANS
Camper-vans and some motorhomes (subject to size) are welcome on this site but you will need to pay the additional cost of £2 per night directly to the campsite on arrival. Please message the leader with any queries. Large motorhomes and caravans are NOT permitted....sorry!
DOGS
Well behaved dogs are welcome but again, a further charge of £1 per dog per night will apply, payable direct to the campsite. Please message the leader with any queries on this.

Sleeping mat: will keep you warmer and dryer
Waterproof bags: for spare, dry clothing
Food: search online for camping food that’s easy to cook and filling
Hot drinks: at least in cold weather
Cooking Equipment: check you have fuel and know how yours works
Eating equipment: mug, bowl or plate and cutlery
Washing up equipment: detergent, brush/scourer and tea towel
Wash kit: remember to include a towel, shower gel and shampoo
Torch: or easier still, a head torch
Food & drink
Please bring your own food for the weekend - breakfast, lunch and dinner.
There is a pub a short walk away (less than half a mile) which serves food until 8.30pm on both nights. This is a great venue with good ales, wines and a fab atmosphere.
In 2018 we offered a BBQ in conjunction with the local pub, The Newfield Inn - this was a storming success! Food is payable on the day depending on what you want so less to worry about in meal planning and best of all, no dishes! More information will be released closer to the time.
There is a very basic local shop in Ulpha, on the way into the valley but its opening times are somewhat sporadic, so please stop for supplies in Broughton-in-Furness or earlier when arriving.
