Fell Run - Slow
3 people attending
6 places left
A social fell run -
- for runners wanting to try fells
- fell runners wanting to encourage others, or
- fell runners like me who’ve lost their fitness
You should be able to run 10k comfortably, and have good aerobic fitness - though you don’t have to be exceptional. This is as much a social as a run. It is though a steep uphill and VERY UNEVEN underfoot - it’s a fell run, not a trail run! If you are unsure of your ability, please contact the event leader to discuss before signing up.
Clougha is an amazing fell run - woodland stretches , moorland, rocky path, thick muddy peat, steep uphill and some long downhill heather runs. You need trail or fell running shoes (see kit).
6k run, 330m of ascent, probably 50-80mins depending on the group and how many breathers were take.
No dogs due to Land Owner restrictions (except guide, hearing or assistance dogs) are allowed on this walk.
There’ll be an option to eat at The Herbarium in Lancaster afterwards, a local vegan cafe/restaurant/bar for those wishing to.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.

What to bring
The following kit is a requirement to join the run:
- waterproof jacket
- waterproof over trousers
- waterproof head covering, eg jacket hood
- bumbag or rucksack
- fell running shoes, or trail running shoes as a minimum
plus preferred running kit, warm socks and optional survival bag.
You need the waterproofs in case you go over to protect you from the wind and getting cold if walking off, even if it’s a warm sunny day. This is an FRA requirement for all fixtures and it would be negligent and culpable of me to let you run without.
You need warm socks cos you’ll be running through a lot of cold boggy water and cotton socks will freeze your toes!
Inov8’s X-Talon 210 or their MudTalons are the ideal shoes for Clougha - low heel to avoid twisting your ankle, grippy sole for running over rock, deep lugs for holding you in the mud, and porous so they let all the water out.
Food & drink
- 500ml to run with (optional)
- water or recovery drink for return
- snack for return to car
