Falling Workshop 8.00pm (Indoor lead climbing)

8.00 - 9.00pm Fall Practise @ Parthian Climbing Manchester!
You must be able to lead belay to join this event.
Most of us are familiar with the basic concept of falling; after letting go we know we should head downwards quite quickly until the rope goes tight. Despite this, it's still a bit of an intimidating process that holds a lot of us back in what we are willing to lead climb and the "rope goes tight" bit can vary in comfort depending on the skill of the belayer.
Parthian have put on a special fall practise workshop for us, with a trained instructor, which will no doubt increase your confidence and head game when lead climbing and improve your technique for when you catch a lead fall yourself. The session will be one hour.
Please sign up to the 6.30pm or 7.30pm session.
Our usual Monday night climbing is taking place alongside this event. Feel free to sign up to both.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
All those attending the event must also be aware of the centre's own terms and conditions of participation and abide by them, along with any instructions given by the centre’s staff. Everyone must also take responsibility for their own safety while participating in Indoor climbing events.
What to bring
Hand sanitiser and a face covering: whilst we continue to live with Covid-19, please bring your own to events to help keep everyone safe.
Climbing Equipment: If you have your own climbing gear (harness, shoes, chalk, Belay device & screw-gate karabiner, climbing rope etc.) you can bring this along, but please make sure it is in good condition. As a minimum you will need the use of a climbing harness and a belay device (plate & screw-gate karabiner, or assisted breaking device if you have one). If you do not have your own, you will be able to hire what you need directly from the centre.
There is a changing area at the Climbing Centre and lockers are available, although you will need to provide your own padlock to secure it.
What to Wear: It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. No jeans or any form of trouser which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable. If you have any OutdoorLads branded clothing then please try and wear this as it will give the group a good level of visibility. Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
The Climbing centre cafe sells a selection of snacks, cakes, hot & cold drinks.
We usually head to the Molly House (just off Canal Street) for a quick drink afterwards too (but there's no expectation - most of have to work the next day!)
