Exploring the White Peak - Camping Weekend

Join us as we camp at a picturesque campsite nestled in the spectacular White Peak area of the Peak District National Park, within easy reach of the magnificent Manifold Valley and Dovedale. We will be staying in our own field, so this will provide ample space for us to pitch up and relax in the serenity of the National Park around us.
For those OutdoorLads who are keen cyclists, there is a bike rental service nearby offering bikes at a very reasonable price.
Our focus on the Saturday will be a magnificent walk from the site in the surrounding White Peak area, famous for it's limestone and stunning valleys. Necessarily including some decent ascents, you'll be rewarded with glorious views from all angles as we explore the best of what this area can offer. All before we spend a relaxing evening together at the campsite and / or the local pub (as you choose) to round off a great day!
Campsite Facilities & Food Options
The campsite is very well-equipped. For more information on the campsite facilities, please review the "What to Bring" section below.
Adjacent to the site is a bustling local pub, serving excellent pub grub. More info in Food & Drink section below.
Campervans, motorhomes and caravans: The field we will be staying on is for tents only, sorry.
Dogs Well behaved dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a lead and are looked after by their owners at all times. A fee is payable for each dog per night, payable to the campsite on arrival.
Campfires
The site allow campfires and these must be contained in a fire pit or similar container and off the ground to avoid burning the grass. We aim to have a campfire on both Friday & Saturday evening weather permitting. Bring logs if you have any or we can buy on site.
Noise Policy
The campsite has a strict noise policy in place so noise will be at a minimum after 10pm. Please adhere to site rules whilst on site and this will be enforced.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.

What to bring
Walking Kit:
As ever, the weather may be unpredictable. Please ensure you have adequate layers to keep warm and waterproofs to keep you dry. Although the paths themselves mostly are well-trodden and maintained, it may be a little wet and muddy underfoot after rain, so you'll need decent boots.

Note that this is only a guide and you will need to consider the weather forecast.
Tent:
A tent is, of course, essential! You should make sure that you have pitched the tent previously, and have all parts, such as poles and pegs. The tent should also be able to stand up to the changeable weather. A 3-season tent is recommended to provide a minimum levels of protection.
Sleeping Bag / Mat:
You should look for a sleeping bag that provides adequate warmth, below the temperature that you may expect. A decent sleeping mat is also essential – a ‘thermarest’ inflatable mat or a thick rubber yoga-style mat is a minimum essential to insulate you from the cold of the ground.
Cooking / Eating Equipment:
Campers should bring some kind of cooking equipment so that they can cook hot meals and prepare a decent cuppa. Check you have fuel for your camp stove and you know how it works. The bare minimum for eating is a mug, bowl or plate and cutlery. Additional equipment such as chopping board, sharp knife, grater, wooden spoon, etc. depending on what you plan to cook.
Even if you plan to head to the pub to eat, it’s worth having some cooking equipment to prepare breakfast and hot drinks.
Washing-up Equipment:
Sponge / scourer, detergent and tea towel
Don't forget a torch, or better still, a head torch

Campsite Facilities:
The campsite consists of two camping fields beside a stream.
Facilities on site include:
- On-site shop selling essentials
- Flush toilets
- Wash basins with hot water
- Shower facilities
- Washing up points with hot water
- Waste bins and recycling
- Drinking water is readily available

Food & drink
As this is a camping event, please bring all your own food and drink for the weekend.
At the very least you will need food for two breakfasts at the campsite and also a packed lunch for Saturday’s walk.
You may choose to cook at your tent, alternatively you may wish to make use of two catering options for evening meals - and also breakfast! (see below).
The Manifold Inn:
The Manifold Inn is directly opposite the entrance to the campsite and serves food all day, including breakfast for campers! A refreshing beverage in the beer garden, watching the sun set after a day of walking, is always a favourite! Menus are available online here.
On-site shop:
There is a small grocery store on-site selling the basic essentials.
