Join us for three nights in beautiful Northumberland this Easter, with the North Pennines and Hardian's Wall offering interesting walking within easy reach. We will be staying at the YHA's Nine Banks property, which is a 300 year old stone miner's cottage. All rooms have private or en-suite shower rooms.
Walking and cycling will be on offer, depending on the availability of leaders. If you would like to consider leading an activity, please message the event leader to discuss.
On Saturday and Sunday we are planning to walk along parts of the Hadrian's Wall Path. This will involve a short drive to the National Park car-park and then a bus ride, either at the start or finish of the walk. Other walks and activities may be available.
On Easter Monday we are planning a visit to the site of the Roman Fort at Vindolanda where there are extensive remains and a museum. Later we can have lunch at the Twice Brewed Inn before setting off home.
Andrew is going to lead the event and lead the walks on Saturday and Sunday and Damo has offered to co-lead the weekend. He has some great ideas about the menus for Saturday and Sunday evening meals so I think we will make a great team and have a memorable weekend.
And look out for the Easter Bunny and some special easter egg events.
What to bring
All bedding is provided, but you will need to bring a towel, wash kit, clothes etc for the weekend. You will also need appropriate clothing and equipment for whatever walks or activities you intend to take part in. For higher level walks this will include boots and waterproofs. Bear in mind that the weather in April can vary, so keep an eye on the forecast and pack accordingly. Any questions about what you need, just message the leader.
