Pat of the Masquerade Yorkshire Murder Mystery Weekend at the West End Centre Hostel : There will be climbing on both the Saturday & Sunday, and priority will be given to those staying at the hostel.

Join us for a day's climbing at Brimham Rocks; set on the edge of the moor, it is easy to see why it is an immensely popular area not just with climbers. There are an array of blocks, towers & buttresses, threaded by myriad paths, with some truly amazing rock formations. The climbing offers a good collection of routes  across all grades, and also has bouldering options.

If plans for a Sunday walk in the area from others staying at the hostel come to fruition, we may be able to meet up with some of the other guys on the hostel event for a picnic lunch!

To attend this event, you will need to have attended an indoor climbing event with OutdoorLads, and be competent in tying in with a figure 8 knot, and Lead-Belaying a climbing partner. If you are unsure about the difficulty of the event, or whether you have necessary skills & experience, please message the event leader with your questions, or get advice on where your nearest indoor climbing events are where you can learn the basics.

DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF LEAD CLIMBERS, THE NUMBER OF SECONDER CLIMBING PLACES MAY NEED TO BE RESTRICTED AND THIS WILL BE DONE ON A FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED BASIS.

You may wish to keep up to date with all outdoorlads outdoor climbing events here, or through our facebook group to be notified about new outdoor climbing events as they go online and to keep in touch with other outdoor climbers in ODL.

Participation statement

As a BMC Affiliate member, Outdoorlads draws your attention to the fact that climbing is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.

Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge.  Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.

Members should also understand that rock climbing is weather dependant – more so than some other outdoor activities (not least as it can be dangerous to climb on wet rock). Whilst we will do everything reasonably possible to run the event as described, the event leader may need to change the location and/or other event details to best suit the anticipated weather. We will advise members booked on, or interested, in the event of this as soon as is practical, but you should understood that in certain circumstances it may be necessary to move the event to an indoor climbing centre, or cancel the event all together.
