A days climbing at Stanage Plantation
5 people attending
0 places left
Join us for a days single pitch trad climbing at the Plantation area (middle bit!) of the fantastic Stanage Edge.
To attend this event, you will need to have attended outdoor climbing events with OutdoorLads before (sorry no beginner places available this time!), and be competent in tying in with a figure 8 knot, and Lead-Belaying a climbing partner. If you are unsure about the difficulty of the event, or whether you have necessary skills & experience, please message the event leader with your questions.
More places may be made available, if the lead climbers to seconders ratio's work out ok.
We will meet in the Plantation car park WHICH IS PAY AND DISPLAY at 10.45 and go over arrangements for the day, and walk up to the crag at 11am, so please be on time. If you wish to avoid the parking fee, allow an extra 10-15 mins to park further away and then walk up to the meet point. Please also note that the location marker on this event page may not be entirely accurate (as i don't know which car park it is for sorry!); It is the car park in the middle- between the popular and high-neb area's. Message me if you're unsure.
Participation statement
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
What to bring
Harness, Rock boots, Belay plate, screwgate karabiner, and a Helmet.
If you don't have your own equipment then you may be able to use the OutdoorLads gear if you message the meet leader in advance. Please note there are limited group helmets available, and you wont be able to climb without one; group gear is first come first serve! Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting damaged. Grit stone can be quite abrasive. Bring warm clothes for when you aren't climbing and a waterproof just in case. It is also advisable to bring insect repellent as midges can be an annoyance.
Food & drink
You will need a packed lunch, and drinks to last you the day as we will spend the day on the crag. There may be the opportunity to retreat to a nearby pub for food/drink at the end of the day, and a chance to brag about the days achievements!
