Join us for a day's multipitch climbing on the Rosa Pinnacle, Isle of Arran. One of the best rock climbing destinations in the UK, the Rosa Pinnacle sticks up like an alpine summit at the top of glen Rosa offering multipitch climbs throughout the grades on near-perfect granite. Some of the classics are:
Sou'wester slabs (3 pitches, 100m, V.Diff.)
Labyrinth (6 pitches, 120m V.Diff., including caving section)
South ridge direct (12 pitches, 330m, VS 5a)
Arctic way (3 pitches, 115m, HVS 5a)

The routes are relatively long multipitch climbs, with an awkward scramble to descend afterwards. For this reason, the event is only open to people who already have experience of outdoor climbing and scrambling. Please read the participation statement before signing up, and message the event leader if you are unsure if you have suitable experience. The crag is 6 km walk from the meeting point so bring everything you need for a full day out in the mountains - this is also the reason for the early start.
The day's itinerary is subject to change depending on the weather; if it is wet we may decide to go for a hike or visit a distillery or cheese shop instead depending on what people prefer. Also, the number of attendees we can cater for on the event may vary depending on the availability of leaders. The event leader will keep everyone registered up to date with any changes of plan.
Some of us are going to make a long weekend of it, climbing on friday and sunday as well and staying at the cheap but basic campsite in Glen Rosa. The main ferry to the Isle of Arran sails to Brodick from Ardrossan, where it connects with regular trains from Glasgow. You can book at https://www.calmac.co.uk/

Participation statement
As a Mountaineering Scotland Affiliate member, Outdoorlads draws your attention to the fact that climbing is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
What to bring
The leader will be in touch before the event to ensure that between us we bring enough climbing gear, guidebooks etc. At a minimum you will need to bring your own climbing shoes, and arrange with the leader in advance if you need to borrow a helmet and/or climbing harness. Bring clothes and gear (including waterproofs) for a full day out in the mountains.
Food & drink
Bring food and drink for a full day out in the mountains.
