Celebration Weekend 2018: Kayak Tour of Birmingham Canals
8 people attending

This event is part of the AGM Celebration Weekend 2018 and more events will be added soon!
Come and explore Birmingham from a different perspective with this 3-hour tour of the city’s canals, on Saturday morning before the AGM.
With more miles of canal than Venice, there are plenty of beautiful views, stunning modern developments like the Cube and restored industrial heritage buildings to enjoy while paddling through Birmingham.
The tour will take us along the canals past Brindley place, under Broad Street and through the Gas Street Basin until we eventually get to admire the fantastic shapes of the Cube from below. Our guide will also fill us in on some of the history of the canals and some of the unique features of the canals in Birmingham.
No experience is necessary. The kayak tour company (B-Row) will take us through the basics and by the time we get to the Barclaycard arena you will be paddling confidently past the other tourists, wishing they were on the water!
All participants should have a modest level of fitness; the total distance we paddle is approximately 2.5 miles (4 km).
The tour will last 3 hours, and we will stop for a coffee / ice cream en-route, so bring some cash! We will be finished in plenty of time to freshen-up before the AGM commences.
You must complete an online participant information form before arriving for the event. The form can be accessed on the B-ROW website here. Note that the form doesn't ask for the event date - make sure you select "kayak tour" as the tour option from the dropdown list.
A range of events are happening on the AGM Weekend - Others will be addded as they're finalised . . . keep your eyes peeled for more.

What to bring
All participants will be provided with a buoyancy aid regardless of swimming ability.
Wetsuits are NOT provided, so please come wearing quick drying sportswear - it’s best not to wear denim or cotton as these items soak up the water and become heavy.
Please also bring a towel and a dry bag for anything you wish to bring along. The leader will have spare dry bags (size to fit wallet, keys, phones etc) so don't buy one especially.
Please also bring weather appropriate items such as waterproofs, hat, sun screen, sunglasses (hopefully!).
Note: there are are no facilities for changing or toilets at the start / finish point. There are toilets located 40 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes into the tour. Please come changed and ready to go!
Food & drink
We will make one stop in the city centre and there will be time to grab a coffee or buy an ice cream, so bring a card or some cash!
