Celebration Weekend 2018: Green Brum - Saturday Morning Walk

This event is part of the AGM Celebration Weekend 2018 and more events will be added soon!
In spite of its outdated reputation for ring roads and concrete brutalism, Birmingham is actually one of the greenest cities in the UK. Come and explore some of the nature corridors around the city away from the noise and traffic on this brief Saturday morning walk.
We will start out from Brindleyplace near the meeting of the Birmingham & Fazeley and Birmingham Main Line canals. Following the towpath for a mile or so takes us to Edgbaston Reservoir, where we can take in views of the city skyline from the water's edge. The reservoir was created by Thomas Telford in the 1820s to keep the Birmingham canals system topped up; now it provides 58 acres of open water for the city's sailing, windsurfing and rowing clubs.
Further on we enter Summerfield Park to pick up the disused Harborne Railway trackbed. The short-lived route is now a popular walking and cycling track weaving through Birmingham's leafy suburbs. Finally we will join the Worcester & Birmingham canal back through Edgbaston to the city centre in time for the AGM in Digbeth.
A range of events are happening on the AGM Weekend - Others will be addded as they're finalised . . . keep your eyes peeled for more.

What to bring
Dress appropriately for the weather. A few layers are best as well as a waterproof jacket - it is Birmingham in the Autumn after all! Comfortable trainers are fine for this one.
Food & drink
We'll be back in time for lunch before the AGM.
Please bring enough to drink for the duration of the walk as we won't be passing many shops.
