Camber Sands Day Walk and Rye Xmas event
13 people attending

about 5 hours
This year sees a repeat of Rye's popular and entertaining Christmas event, with lots of festive activities and displays going on all afternoon and into the early evening.
We shall join in the fun but only after we have completed a nine or so mile stroll down to Camber Sands and back. We will follow a slightly different route from last year and the direction we travel will be determined by the state of the tide- the beach is fantastic in winter but obviously best when the tide is out. You can see our approximate route here:
After the walk, I will conduct an extended tour of Rye (aka Tilling) for anybody who is interested, including the location of the first series Mallards if that means anything and doubtless a pub or two will demand our attention. During this time we will see some of the attractions of the day as well. Doing it in this way will hopefully ensure that nobody feels left out and we can continue to enjoy each other's company while also exploring this fascinating and ancient little town.
There is a photographic record from last year's event and this link is to the Christmas in Rye event page:
By the way, Mallards and Tilling refer to the Rye-based tales of Mapp and Lucia- but I'm sure you knew that!
What to bring
It is Winter and we will be out on Romney Marsh and Camber Sands, both of which are very exposed so they can be very windy and wet. Please dress accordingly!
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch and drink for the day. Doubtless we will be able to buy more when we are back in Rye later on.
