Distance is 14 miles (plus 1 mile from station to campsite at the end) and total ascent is 470m. There will be some moderate to steep climbs. We will mostly be on good quality rural footpaths.

This event is intended for attendees at Big Summer Camp 2021.

A moderately challenging, but rewarding walk with views across to Brighton and the sea. At 14 miles with a total ascent of 470m, this is a great event for anyone wanting a decent downland walk direct from the campsite.

Walk highlights will be views across rolling downland, and sweeping views to the sea across Brighton as we approach the end of the walk. We will also head across the ancient iron age fort and settlement of Cissbury Ring - the second largest iron age fort in England.

The walk will start at base camp. After heading north out of Angmering Village, we will head eastwards passing through the South Downs villages of Clapham and Findon, across Cissbury Ring, peaking at the commanding viewpoint at Steep Down. We will end at the seaside settlement of Lancing, from where there are regular (15 minute frequency) trains back to Angmering - this will cost £5.40. From Angmering station it is an easy flat walk of about 1 mile.
