BSumC 2021 - Arundel Festival and Arundel Park Walk (Sat)
25 people attending

5 people waitlisted
This is one of the events organised as part of BIG Summer Camp 2021.
This is a great event for those wanting a nice scenic walk with a chance to also enjoy the Arundel Festival, which will be in full swing when we arrive. The festival boasts plenty of stalls selling crafts, food and beers, along with street entertainment which makes for a great atmosphere.
We start at Ford Station, and wind our way for a mile or so up the River Arun. We reach Arundel, a beautiful and historic yet buzzing town nestled in the South Downs. After a mooch around the town to take in the Festival, we continue on to climb onto the Downs themselves, via the tranquil Arundel Park, passing a folly en route. Eventually the view gives out to a panorama over the Arun Valley running north ahead, and views to the coastal towns looking behind. We will drop down to a shady wooded river path, and end our walk with a pint at the Bridge Inn next to the historic Houghton Bridge near Amberley. We then head back on the train to Angmering station.
(Note this is a linear walk, and we will use the train to get to the walk start and then back to base camp)
