What is Touch Rugby?

Ever wanted to be a rugby player but the thought of being tackled kept you from joining in? Then Touch Rugby is for you! Touch Rugby is a minimal contact version of rugby where tackling is replaced by touching the ball carrier. It’s a fun sport that emphasizes skill, strategy and teamwork! A Touch rugby match only lasts about 15mins, 7 mins each half with a minute water break in between.

What to expect?

From 4:30pm on Saturday we will do an hour of training to get ready for the OutdoorLads Big Spring Camp Touch Rugby Tournament. You will learn techniques and skills to help you have fun and beat the competition! Then at 5:45pm we will split into teams and have a tournament to see which team is the winner of the first ever BSC Touch Rugby Tournament!

Do I need previous experience?

No. Touch Rugby is fun and our coach Simon is a fully qualified England Rugby (RFU) coach who has previously coached the Kings Cross Steelers team in the IGR league, he will help you with any questions/skills, so come along and give it a go.

Can I come along and just watch?

If you want to come and cheer on all those taking part, then absolutely, please do! (but don't sign up to this event page if not taking part!)

Who's running the session?

Simon Stewart (SCAPS)

I am a qualified England Rugby (RFU) coach and have previously coached 3XV Kings Cross Steelers in the International Gay Rugby (IGR) League. I am also a new member of OutdoorLads looking forward to many new walks, hikes and camping adventures!

Please note: Touch rugby can be quite fast so if you have any respiratory issues remember to bring inhalers, etc, with you.
