BSC25: A Bow Around Llanrwst (Sun)
15 people attending
5 places left
This is one of the events organised as part of BIG Spring Camp 2025.
A medium scenic day walk from the campsite with a midway get out.
We'll walk from the campsite down to Llanrwst, then south to Tyn Twll, though rolling countryside looping back to Llanrwst then head north through wooded valleys and farm land towaeds LLandogged and its late medieval double naved church, continuing on to Trwyn Swch Bach returning to LLanrwst. Both loops have about 200m of ascent.
The walk is mostly on paths, with some quiet roads.
Maximum length of route 17km with 400m of ascent
5 hours of walking, at a decent pace.
If weather is bad, or group is tiring after weekend of camping and adventures the walk may be shortened to one loop only, northern loop can also be shortened to, my plan is to keep us to a maximum of 5 hours away from the camp.
Route outline here: https://out.ac/IahtKg though as above, this is a general suggestion not, not what we must do.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.

What to bring
Lunch and Water: see below
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely. If you are paddling your feet, a small towel.
Boots: waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking; trainers are OK if the ground is dry and there’s little chance of rain
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters
Layered clothing: lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers/shorts: ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry
Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry
Sunglasses/Sun cream: can be useful even on cloudy days
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Folding sit mat: Optional, but can be nice to sit on for lunch.
Food & drink
Though passing through Llanrwst, a shop stop will prolong the walk considerably, so please bring food and drink for the duration of the walk. I suggest a few snacks, a packed lunch and at least 1 litre of water. If the weather is cold I like to bring a thermos of tea/coffee too.
