The wonderfully naturally sculptured Brimham Rocks are a popular attraction in the Yorkshire Dales. This delightful circular 8 miles (13km) walk will take us alongside rivers, through woodlands and across moors. Starting at Glasshouses in Nidderdale we start walking through the village and follow the river up to Smelthouses, where the monks of Fountains Abbey once smelted ore. Following the Nidderdale Way we will make our way to Brimham Rocks, these amazing free-standing rock formations have been given names, such as the Dancing Bear, Turtle and Sphinx. We will have time here for lunch and to explore. We return to Glasshouses across farmtracks and via Knoxstone Crag from where you can see the 'golf balls' of Menwith Hill.
