Join Ade for this annual winter day walk to the fantastic former estate of Lady Jane Grey. This 10-11 mile hike takes us through the ancient woodland of Swithland Wood and out onto the deer-roaming moorland heights of Bradgate Park.
After visiting the ruins of Bradgate House, once belonging to the "Nine Day Queen", Lady Grey, we will climb up to the 18th century folly Old John Tower, with its famous Precambrian outcrops and amazing vista of Leicestershire. We then head on for a warming lunch at the Curzon Arms in the picturesque village of Woodhouse Eaves.
We walk off our lunch by heading off to nearby Beacon Hill, before returning through the village and back to Swithland wood.
