Escape the Christmas Festivities for a relatively easy and varied walk. We will pass along a section of canal, an interesting bridge, a former derelict industrial site transformed into a park, a disused railway and finishing with a stiff climb to take in he views over Greater Manchester and the Cheshire Plain.

We start with a short climb up to the Peak Forest Canal which we follow through to Disley before descending to follow the River Goyt to New Mills. Passing under the town via the Millennium Walkway and the Torrs Riverside Park, brings us to the Sett Valley Trail along the former Railway to Hayfield.

The last section of the walk will involve a climb to Cobden Edge, (The highest elevation in Stockport) where should the weather be favourable offers excellent views over to Kinder to the East and much of Greater Manchester and the Cheshire Plain to the west.

Descending back to the cars, we will have the option to stop at a pub for refreshments.
