This event is intended for those on the BIG North Christmas 2024 event.
A Festive 6-7 mile Grasmere Walk
Starting from the hostel, we'll head to the village of Grasmere. There will be time to buy gingerbread, visit the churchyard where William Wordsworth is buried, have lunch and then we'll head out of Grasmere and pass Dove Cottage (Wordsworth's former home).
Our walk then takes us off the beaten path along the historic "coffin route," offering stunning views of Grasmere and Rydal Water. At Rydal Mount we can enjoy a well-deserved tea break. Afterward, we'll descend via the Badger Pub and cross the River Rothay, following the banks of lake back to the hostel.
With plenty of opportunities for refreshments and photos, this moderate walk is the perfect way to work up an appetite for your Christmas feast.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
What to bring
The paths are generally good but as it may be a bit slippery, you should have footwear with some decent grip. Waterproofs are always a good idea in the Lake District at any time of the year. Gloves and a hat are advised too. If you are planning to call in for refreshments, don't forget your cash or cards.
Food & drink
There are shops, cafes and pubs in Grasmere as well as a tearooms and pub later in the walk for getting food and drink, or bring along a packed lunch. A hot drink might be a good idea as it is December (or hot toddy, we don't judge)
